Celebrating Eid-ul Adha in Newcastle 2014

Two weeks ago all muslims celebrated Eid-ul Adha. My Family and I also celebrated it. It was my third time celebrating eid in Newcastle, far....far....away from my big family in Indonesia. Sadness and happiness jumbled in my mind, but Alhamdulillah we still have a chance to celebrated eid this year.

My husband, my daughter, and I prayed in the Westgate Sport Centre. There were many venues for pray, in Eldon Square, Madina Mosque, Newcastle Central Mosque, because Newcastle Central mosque is under construction, so they moved the venue to the Westgate Sport Centre. This year there were two prays, some people prayed and celebrated eid on Saturday, and another people celebrated on Sunday. That just because we have differences in calculating the day, but that was okay as long as we pray in one of that day. I celebrated on Saturday.

In Saturday morning, that was hard raining, we put on our coats and brought our umbrella, we went on foot to sport centre while whispering takbir Allahu akbar along the way. It took about 10 minutes from my flat to the praying spot. Our coats and our boots were wet but we were very happy.

We pray two rakah led by imam, the leader of muslim's prayer. All people were quite and concentrating prayed to Allah in very neat shaf. In that time, we didn't thing about dunya, we just focused talk to Allah and hope for His bless and forgiveness.

After shalah, we ate biryani and chicken tandoori. MasyaAllah, the foods were very delicious. I like biryani and tandoori chicken since I tasted in the first time, I don't know why even my daughter loves it very much. We didn't forget to du'a before and after eating, we thanked to Allah for the fortune we got as a muslim.

Still raining outside, children played in a big ship bouncy castle, some people queued in front of face painter lady, their children wanted to get their faces painted. Some children were just running around while their parent had  a chat to others. We were very happy that day, Alhamdulillah. Allahuakbar....Allahuakbar walillahilham.
