First of all, talking about culture in Indonesia there are many things. Indonesia is a hugely diverse nation. It is made up of over 17,500 islands which are home to over 300 ethnic groups. We have have many kinds of traditional languages, different religions, various ethnic make up, different traditional costumes, ceremonies, etiquette guidelines, and also various cuisines.
Indonesian Cuisines
There are many kinds of different dishes from different province in my country. For examples Rawon (beef black soup) from East Java, Gudeg (young jackfruit soup) from Central Java, Ketoprak (vegetable salad with spicy sauce) from West Java, Rendang (hot beef) from West Sumatra, Mie Aceh (hot noodle) from Aceh etc. Indonesia also has well known foods in the world, there are Sate (chicken or beef or lamb skewers), and Nasi Goreng (fried rice) which is President Obama like most. Indonesian people like hot dishes, that's why we also like sambal (chili puree) that we put on top of the food before we eat it. We also like krupuk (crackers) in every mealtime.
Table Manner
In Indonesia, we don't have three types of food such as appetizer, main course, and dessert. We only have main menu. Most of the menus we always eat with nasi putih (rice) which is Indonesian's staple food. Some of Indonesian people like to eat using their fingers instead of using spoon and fork. In some regions they like to eat while sitting on the floor mat rather than in the chair. We not allowed to talk when we are eating, stay quite until our food has finished instead we called impolite. Criticise the foods is also prohibited. It's okay if someone burp after finish their meal, but not too loud, maybe she or he only needs to put her/his hand while burping.
Food Diets
The overwhelming majority of Indonesian people are muslims, consequently they eat halal foods. The government guaranteed all meets are halal. And alcohols are forbidden. The people also like to eat many kinds of raw vegetables.
#Ayat hari ini:
Surat Al-Balad ayat 6-10
